Chronicles of AustraliaThe last Wednesday I spent such a great time in Darling Harbour, there was a dinner organised by the International Office of the Uni. I met interesting people in there, another Mexican, some people from Asia and guess what? More Germans!

PersonalAfter an extensive search (OK I just applied for 5 or 6 jobs) I got a job. So, now I’m very very happy not only because I got the job but because I got such a great job: good business, good pay and good schedule! My job in an Aussie company called Websalad, an Internet marketing company. Starting my main job is going to be to install and optimise blogs using Wordpress, so all those nights tweaking Wordpress finally paid off good! Also I have the flexibility of working at home (yes just like Homer Simpson did once) anyway the office is really great, in the very heart of Sydney.
Just like my Google shirt says: “I’m feeling lucky!”

Chronicles of AustraliaToday a very cool event took place in Sydney, City2Surf is a very very fun 14-kilometre race where winning is not exactly the objective. People run just for fun from Hyde Park to Bondi Beach, and maybe I’d like to take part in it next year. I tried to take pictures from the starting line but that was impossible, more than 62,000 people together in Hyde Park, it was impressive! So I walked around Saint Mary’s Cathedral until I reached King’s Cross, almost 1km away from the starting line.
I took pictures on a sidewalk but at some point I and other people taking pictures were in the middle of a giant wave of runners, so I walked up just a few meters to avoid being trapped in the middle of the runners.
A Superman was leading the competition as you can see below, the rest of the pictures in the City2Surf 2006 photogallery.

IT ChannelI’m in my second week of classes and things are going very fine. I’m still amazed of the quality of the professors of Macquarie University. One of my professors has been directly involved in the creation of ISO27001 (the international quality security standard) and another is working for Microsoft in the security area (now you can imagine all the indirect comments about Windows in class). I will try to post some links about what I’m studying although I need to ask if I can publish lecturer’s notes.
Even with those qualifications professors are very nice and humble, that’s great because if I had those qualifications… uhmm, I wouldn’t allow students to look directly at my face… OK just kidding, you know I’m not like that
