Chronicles of AustraliaYesterday I returned to Sydney from my holidays in the Northern Territory. Yeah finally I went to the Red Centre to see Uluru and all this big red desert. The trip was amazing, if you can do it don’t hesitate, because if you hesitate for a second you won’t do it. Why? well common sense will intervene and you will start thinking about driving 400 km from Alice Springs to see a big rock, walking 10km in sandy floor, walking 7km on red rocks carrying 1.5 litres of water that you will consume in 2 hours because the last water fountain that you saw was like 5 km away, and wondering why exactly are you paying for a kind of boot-camp holiday. But hell yeah, it was fun to walk and walk and climb and go up and down under 33C and like 15% humidity, so I have a really high respect now for Aboriginals since I would certainly die in there like in 3 hours if I’m left alone. Also I learnt, at least a bit more about Aboriginal culture and I was so shocked when I saw the night sky and I could see the Milky Way with my naked surgical-corrected eyes.
Well we visited many places, very small towns (the real outback!), I met lot of people, and in general was very fun although I kept my PDA close to keep my sanity. I’m organising the pictures now, so I’ll post just a few and the rest in flickr in my next post.

Chronicles of AustraliaI spent a nice weekend in Port Macquarie, a small town 390 km north of Sydney. The weather was a bit shifty but it was a lot of fun. Interesting people, nice beaches, cool nightclubs, koalas, dolphins (I could barely see them) and a nice wharf. Excellent for a weekend

Chronicles of AustraliaYes, the APEC is taking place at Sydney. No problem with me but the government installed ugly fences all around the Central Business District! I knew about the fences but I was shocked when I saw them, this beautiful city now looks like a prison. The fences are supposed to protect the world leaders from reality, uhm I mean, from violent protests. Next time take this kind of meetings to Canberra!
And I just came from the city and the CBD is crazy, cops everywhere, police cars, ambulances, firefighters, cops in bikes on the sidewalks, and helicopters with flashing lights. The security is really tight, and the meetings haven’t actually started. At least they made this Friday an official holiday. Good that I’m going to Port Macquarie for this weekend.

PersonalThe other day I got a congratulations letter from Macquarie University for my good grades last semester. So far so good, but they forgot the cheque, I’m confident this is all a mistake and the money will come soon, or maybe they will tell me later where to collect the money. Because, only a simple letter will be plain silly, right? Right?
(Bastards!)
