No Line on the Horizon

Posted under Personal

Walking on Pitt Street in my way to the meeting of the ACS and having 30 minutes free I just passed by JB Hi-Fi. What a surprise when I found a shelf  with the new CD of U2: No Line on the Horizon, just in there, and with a discount: $18.99!! I immediately went after the disc to make sure it wasn’t the single or something, but no it was the shiny new album of U2. I grabbed my credit card and I’m listening the album right now.

The album was supposed to be released first in Ireland tomorrow 27th of February (on my birthday) and worldwide the 3rd of March. What a great birthday present!

Next station Macquarie University

Posted under Chronicles of Australia

Today finally I heard what many people waited for years, the train line from Chatswood to Epping passing by Macquarie Uni was working. Unfortunately I don’t go to Uni anymore, but now I have an extra option to go home, which is surprinsingly quite fast and convenient. Catherine took good pictures of the station. I just wish all the stations were so modern and shiny like those new ones. I’m to show you later pictures of Town Hall station at 6pm: it’s as crowded as any Mexico City metro station, it just looks older.

Strategic consulting

Posted under Personal

Because you were good today: double post!

A good Mexican friend who I met here in Australia, just started a small consultancy company. Considering she’s quite smart and has a shiny new MBA from Macquarie University and a good amount of experience I have no doubt she’ll succeed very soon. Right now she’s in Singapore and the innovative part of her business is that the service can be hired online, very convenient for the clients. And very convenient for my friend, I can already picture her working on a laptop overlooking Singapore skyline and having a cocktail. The perfect job.

Then, good luck Maria Jose and remember to hire me for securing your information systems.

Summer Rain

Posted under Chronicles of Australia

I’m really considering suing Tourism Australia. When I came to this country I had the idea that Sydney was all beaches, surf boards and sexy girls in tiny swimsuit. Not the freaky rainy days we’ve been having lately, or the suffocating heat of a couple of weeks ago. Therefore, Tourism Australia, I want my money back, I think your website is misleading and full of fake assumptions which are loosely related with reality. In my town we call this fraud :P

Bushfires in Australia

Posted under Chronicles of Australia

By now the news about the massive bushfires in Victoria are around the world. For those who’ve been asking if I’m fine, well yes I am, actually Victoria is quite far from here. However, it has being a very sad day for Australia, many unfortunate deaths. Even when I’m not Australian I feel very sorry for all of them.
