Posted under Chronicles of Australia, Personal

By popular demand, and just to satiate you appetite for cheap American humour, my (in)famous video skiing in Thredbo.

Go ahead, laugh out loud, if you can’t feel sorry for me, you’re a plain senseless sick :P

Thredbo

Posted under Chronicles of Australia

I just uploaded some pictures of my trip to Thredbo. It was quite fun, although skiing proved to be something harder than I thought.

Skiiiiii!

Posted under Chronicles of Australia

One of the most unusual things you can do in Australia is skiing on snow! Yeah, it sounds weird, but there are Snowy Mountains around 400 km south of Sydney. “Snowy” really means heaps of snow, like 1.5 metres. So, I guess is going to be fun, I’ve never skied before and probably I never expected to do it in a place like Australia but there you go, this country is rare. So I should be in Jindabyne tonight. I’m going to catch a bus after work.

I’ll be back on Monday :)

Google Street View

Posted under Chronicles of Australia, IT Channel

Finally Google Street View made it to Australia! The best is that not only the major cities are mapped but even small towns and suburbs. I could find my office in the city (AAMI building, second level above the ANZ), our house in Epping (the house with the garage for two cars) and of course the amazing views of Sydney Harbour. Also I peeked into Catherine’s, James’ and this is the closest I could get to Joe’s.

Yeah I know it’s a bit scary but it’s all fun and certainly a great help for those that haven’t visited Australia, much better than the satellite pictures.

World Youth Day 2008

Posted under Chronicles of Australia

In case you don’t know it, the World Youth Day was taking place in Sydney this week, it finished today with a massive mass at Randwick. I had the opportunity to see the pope close to my office in the city and I put the video in YouTube of course. Interesting, Catholic Church is moving into web 2.0, and the official site have podcasts, video casts and even the pope was sending text messages to the pilgrims. I heard there was a social site around as well. Are we going to have CatholicTube soon? What about a RSS news site such as “SlashCross… news for sinners, holy stuff that matters” (no I’m serious, that might work).

Coffee, on The Rocks

Posted under Chronicles of Australia

I just put in Flickr some pictures of The Rocks Aroma Festival, where coffee, chocolate and spices are together for your delight. I loved the Chocolatier’s boulevard, actually I didn’t waste time in coffee, I went straight to the desserts… and the belly dancer in the Turkish food. And there was a very good band playing international music, the violinist was quite cool.

Oh yeah and I found this picture on George Street, in my way to the Rocks. In here Sydney was described as “… a place distinguished for the practice of every debauchery and villainy”. Now I know why this city is famous with the tourists.
